Well, what usually happens is that couples usually get so caught up with the emotional side of dating and the fact that they have a girlfriend/boyfriend to go to the cinema and restaurant with, that they forget what the dating period is really about.
This period of the relationship should be for you to get your magnifying glass out and look into everything there is to know about this person’s character and ethics. Before you jump into marriage you need to know that this person is indeed who she says she is. Remember that there are people who are experts at selling an image of themselves that may not be very accurate at all. It’s up to you to see that this is the right person for you.
Of course we are not saying that your future significant other is out to get you. Absolutely not. But even if they have the best intentions for you, you still need to know if this person’s goals and objectives, values and most of all faith; are compatible to yours.
The truth is, you will only know this person as best as you can after you get married and live under the same roof. But until then, do everything you can to see if this is the person you want to grow old with.
So by all means, do enjoy your period of dating. It can indeed be a blissful time. But remember what dating is for: being certain that this is the one.
